Judges on the day included EGGHEADS STAR & Actor CJ De Mooi, the current Miss England Jessica Linley, Birmingham Model agent Alan Sharman; Philip Sharp Director of Great Lengths hair sponsors for Miss England, Editor of Love it! Miss Burnley at Miss England Semi Final Day

Miss Burnley, Catherine Drain, joined 60 other Miss England Semi Finalists at the luxureous Champneys Health Resort in Leicestershire.

With just 15 places up for grabs for the Miss England Final, competition was tough.

Catherine was joined by 8 other regional winners from the North West. Self self titled “Team North” met at Chester Railway Station to travel down to Leicestershire by minibus which gave them lots of time to bond.

The girls stayed overnight in Nottingham before moving on the Leicestershire for the next day’s Semi Final.

Each girl had to have a panel interview in their self created “Eco Wear” – an outfit made from recycled or ethically sourced materials.
Catherine’s creation wowed the judges and had special mention on the Miss England website.

Then each girl took part in the Sports Challenge, a Royal Navy Bleep Test. This really tested the stamina and was won by Miss Southpport, Abi Bridgeman who travelled down with Catherine.

An Evening Wear round followed where Catherine dazzled in a stunning red dress.

Although Catherine didn’t make the 15 that went through to the final she says that she had an amazing day and is looking forward to being an Ambassador for Burnley for the rest of her year in office.

Variety Club the Big Winner at Miss Burnley

The Variety Club North West were the big winners at this year’s Miss Burnley Final.

Each contestant was tasked to undertake fundraising for the charity that helps disabled and disadvantaged children in the North West of England.

Between them the girls raised a fantastic £1343.38 which was presented to the Variety Club at the end of the day.

Katie Walls was the top fundraiser with £350 and was awarded the title Miss Charity Burnley and presented with a stunning trophy.
